This week our Primary School students will be listening to Yellow Umbrella by Jae Soo Liu and Dong Il Sheen. It is a wonderful story told through pictures and music. Afterwards, students will look at various examples of fiction and nonfiction titles about South Korea. Then, they will participate in a sorting activity to master the concept of fiction and nonfiction texts.

Primary School students in Early School through Grade 3 listened to two great books this week about wishes and New Year's traditions around the world: . Then, the students created their own wishing wands. Our fourth graders have brainstormed ideas and created storyboards for the Library Orientation videos they will be creating next week for the younger Primary School students. Our wonderful resident-artist, Mr. Bill Reid, shared his delightful picture book, Bunnski Goes to Albunnia, with the students and brought us back home (temporarily) from our reading travels.. His story showcased delightful sculptures and engaging photographs created last winter. He shared his creative process for the book and was happy to answer dozens of student questions.
Then, we were jet setting once again - to Moscow this time. We read Rechenka's Eggs by Patricia Polacco and played a matching game with Russian nesting dolls. Exciting travels yet to come in January. PS traveled to mexico & Arctic Village, AK
